Hair Removal Park Ridge

Whether it’s because you don’t have time to shave, are tired of the ongoing expense of waxing, you suffer from shaving rash, pimples, or you have a medical condition that requires ongoing hair reduction management, there are many reasons people choose laser for their hair removal. If you struggle with removing unwanted hair, you’re not alone.

We perform laser hair removal on any area of the body and can safely treat all skin colours.

Our 755nm Alexandrite laser is the laser of choice for those with light skin and the 1064nm Nd-YAG laser is best used on people with darker skin tones. Laser hair removal can be performed on virtually any skin color and hair type, but hair color is the most important factor. During your initial consultation, your skin type, hair color and skin sensitivity will allow us to determine which laser is best for you to safely achieve the best results.

What does it feel like?

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Many people describe laser hair removal to feel like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Compared to waxing and other forms of hair removal, the treatment has very little discomfort.  After your first treatment over the following 1-3 weeks, the treated hair sheds, falling from the follicle.

How many sessions will I need?

Initially, monthly appointments are scheduled especially for hair reduction in hormonal areas. The process requires a series of treatments, but results can be seen after just the first time. After each treatment you’ll progressively see fewer and fewer hairs return. Finishing the recommended 6-10 treatments is crucial, as that ensures that you see the highest degree of permanent hair reduction. Stop worrying about the constant upkeep and start enjoying the freedom of silky smooth skin, year-round.

Care before and after your treatments

Throughout your laser treatment schedule stay out of the sun whenever possible and apply SPF30+. A tan increases the risk of side effects such as hyper/hypo-pigmentation. If you have a tan — either from sun exposure or sunless tanning products —it is best to wait until the tan fades before undergoing laser hair removal. We recommend staying out of the sun for 4 weeks before laser hair removal and 2 weeks post treatment. Avoiding heat inducing activities for 24hrs after your appointments is advised to allow the heat in the follicles to dissipate.

Avoid plucking, waxing and electrolysis. These hair removal methods disturb the hair follicle and interfere with laser hair removal. Shaving is best since it preserves the hair shaft and follicle and we advise this is the only form of hair removal to use between clinic visits. Shave all areas to be treated. If you suffer from shaving rash, shave as close to the appointment as possible.
