Skin Needling Park Ridge
What does it do?
Skin needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) acts to increase the body’s own natural production of collagen and elastin, making visible changes to the skins structure. This is particularly important as we age as both our cell turnover and collagen production slow dramatically.
The more medical form of this same treatment is performed in scar revision. Whether those scars be from acne or trauma, a slightly longer needle length is used to address the deformation in the deeper layers of the skin.
- Reduces fine lines, enlarged pores and deep wrinkles
- Breaks up areas of dyspigmentation as seen in melasma
- Tightens sagging skin due to stimulating collagen and elastin production.
- Reduces scars (including hypertrophic scars) caused by acne, surgery or thermal burns
- Fades stretch marks
How does it work?
Using our renowned Dermapen, tiny needles create micro channels in the surface of the skin. This initiates a wound healing response and the body floods the area with growth factors and other key elemets in creating collagen and elastin. Being minimally invasive to the epidermis (the skins upper most layer) means the production of collagen begins a lot sooner than with a more invasive resurfacing treatment such as ablative laser.
To further enhance the effects of your Medical Needling treatment you can add Plasma, Vit C or a collection of other cosmeceuticals which will be infused during your treatment.
What does it feel like?
A strong topical numbing cream is applied for 20-30mins prior making this a comfortable treatment, however the more sensitive areas under the eyes and around the lip line may produce only a temporary mild discomfort in some clients.
The face in particular may feel like it has a mild sunburn for a short time after treatment.
Is there any downtime?
Some redness and swelling may occur immediately post treatment. Depending on the area treated, some clients return to work afterwards. However, if full face medical needling has been performed please allow at least 24hrs of downtime for the mild sunburn appearance to subside. Sun protection of at least 30+ UVA/UVB must be worn daily, and refrain from any heat inducing activities or sun exposure for 24-48hrs post treatment.
A good quality mineral makeup can be applied the following day.
How often can I have this treatment?
Generally 3 – 6 treatments are recommended to achieve the optimum rejuvenation in an area. Spaced at a maximum of weekly intervals, each session is able to capitalise on the bodies release of Epidermal Growth Factors [ EGF’s ] thus enhancing each treatment and reducing the subsequent ‘downtime’ after each session.
When treating post acne, trauma scarring or striae (stretchmarks) 6 treatments is generally advised.
Is there any aftercare?
ALWAYS wear a hat/sunglasses and a an SPF 30+ sunscreen.
Using effective medical grade cosmeceuticals containing Vitamin A and C and also Peptides found in our Environ Range help prepare the skin prior to treatment as well as assists with rejuvenation after treatments.
